The Society for Creative Anachronism is an organization dedicated to the recreation of medieval life, culture, and so on. We dance, we fight (lots of that), we brew (even more of that), we sew, we--well, if they did it between 750 and 1603 AD, we do it too, most likely. Everyone is supposed to take on a persona, so if you ask SCA people for Carrie Schutrick you may not get very far; try Jeannette de Beauvoir (Norman and proud of it) instead.
